Haochen Insulation Rock Wool Strips for Thin-Coat External Render Systems, also known as A1 fire barriers for external walls, are high-strength fire-resistant thermal insulation profiles purpose-engineered for external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). Manufactured from premium natural basalt ore, the product adopts high-temperature melting, centrifugal pendulum oriented fibre forming and integral curing processes to form a stable vertically orientated fibre structure. Its full range of performance properties complies with technical specifications for external wall thermal insulation works. Combining thermal insulation, crack resistance and flame retardancy, the product is widely adopted for external wall insulation and fire protection projects including new high-rise residential blocks, commercial complexes, public buildings, industrial plants and energy-saving retrofits of aged buildings. It delivers an all-in-one solution addressing core project requirements for insulation, deformation resistance and fire compliance within thin-coat render systems.
1. Fabrication, Structure & Installation Benefits
Unlike conventional horizontally fibrated rock wool materials, these rock wool strips feature vertically aligned fibres. The fibre loading direction closely matches the stress profile of external render coatings, substantially improving the board’s vertical pull-out strength and structural stability. It fundamentally eliminates common defects seen in traditional rock wool panels after installation: hollowing, shrinkage, cracking and delamination. Outstanding wind-load and deformation resistance makes it particularly suited to exposed outdoor conditions across North China, characterised by strong winds and large temperature fluctuations, delivering superior long-term stability on external facades.
The boards have flat, regular faces and are easy to cut, compatible with standard thin-coat render installation methodology. Whether for full-area wall installation or detailed finishing at window openings, wall corners and internal/external angles, the strips adhere tightly to the substrate with robust bonding and monolithic integrity. The material simplifies installation procedures, reduces rework rates and markedly shortens construction durations for external insulation works, outperforming generic insulation materials in practical buildability.
2. A1 Fire & Flame-Retardant Performance
Made from purely inorganic mineral material, the full product range achieves A1 non-combustible classification, an essential fire-separating component for external wall insulation systems on high-rise buildings. When exposed to naked flame, the material will not ignite, produce molten droplets or release toxic flue gases, delivering excellent flame containment, smoke suppression and thermal resistance.
Building fire regulations mandate fire separation structures within external wall insulation layers of high-rise constructions. Deployed horizontally in layered courses as dedicated fire barriers, these rock wool strips effectively halt vertical fire spread along external insulation layers, mitigating the risk of contiguous facade fires and establishing a robust fire defence for building exteriors.
3. Combined Thermal, Acoustic, Hydrophobic & Weathering Performance
The dense, uniform fibre matrix of the rock wool strips delivers low thermal conductivity, stably restricting heat transfer between interior and exterior year-round for durable energy savings and reduced building operational consumption. Its 3D porous fibre structure also provides effective sound absorption, attenuating external noise ingress and improving occupant comfort for residential and commercial spaces.
The strips undergo full vacuum hydrophobic impregnation treatment with a water repellency of ≥98%. Rainwater, surface condensation and ambient moisture cannot penetrate the fibre matrix, preventing weight gain, degraded thermal performance, mould and rot. The material offers excellent ageing resistance, UV resistance, corrosion resistance and weathering stability. Free from formaldehyde and hazardous substances, it is environmentally benign and engineered to match the design service life of the primary building structure.
4. Product Dimensions & Customisation
Rock wool strips for thin-coat render systems are produced to standard dimensions with customisation available.Standard size: 1200 × 150 mm, matched to common modular dimensions for external thin-coat insulation construction. Standard densities: 100kg/m³, 120kg/m³, 140kg/m³ Standard thickness range: 30mm–150mm Non-standard dimensions, thicknesses and densities can be manufactured to project drawings and site operating conditions. Factory stock is maintained for standard engineering specifications, supporting fast fulfilment for small and large bulk project orders.
